Welcome to Songadh! for Mass Wedding (samuh lagna) On 27th March, 2011 at SHAKTI-LAHRC.With great joy we invite you for the mass wedding.
Background: The lives of our Adivasis are very closely knit together with Nature and Natural Resources like Land, Forest, Water and of course Minerals. In the course of time, these resources have gone away from our hands! We have become victims of poverty, insecurity, oppression, displacement, migration etc. We have been also forgetting our identity, unity, culture and customs, celebrations, songs, dance and music, community living due to various factors. We find our lives more expensive while our sources of income are very limited! In order to meet certain expenses, we borrow money at a very high interest rate. We even mortgage our lands and sell our cattle for the same. These things have only made us poorer!
Mass Wedding (samuh lagna)
Today though many parents would like to get their sons and daughters married with dignity, but because of poverty, they are unable to do so. For such parents and youth who are interested in getting married in a dignified way, samuh lagna (mass wedding) provides an alternative.
Adivasi Mahamandal, Gujarat in collaboration with Adivasi Sarvangi Vikas Sanghs (POs), Ukai Right Bank Canal Rights Committee, Songadh Vegetable Vendors Rights Committee and SHAKTI-LAHRC is hosting a mass wedding celebration on 27th March 2011.
Experience of last year: Last year, mass wedding for different groups of adivasis on one stage was organized for the first time. 29 couples (Vasava-12, Gamit-11, Kokni-3 and Chaudhary-3) benefited from it. Encouraged by such a good response and the request from the people, this year too it has been planned. These new couples will be honoured. They will be given various gifts also by different sponsors.
Last date for registration: Friday 25th February 2011.
Registration fee: a contribution of Rs. 202/- (Rs.101/-+ 101/-) per couple. They also need to attach their age certificates.
Place of Registration:
SHAKTI-Legal Aid and Human Rights Centres (LAHRC), Nizar, Uchchhal, Songadh, Vyara, Mandvi, Vankel and Umarpada.
Date of Marriage: Sunday 27th March, 2011.
Time: 10.00 AM. The procession with the bride grooms and their near and dear ones will start from Umang Hotel with traditional musical instruments and dances.
Rite of Marriage: The wedding ceremonies would be performed as per Adivasi rituals of different groups by their elders.

Youth Day In Vadtal and Balasinor
1)Youth Day In Vadtal
Sacred Heart youth Vadtal, had a grand YOUTH DAY celebration. It began with a mass at 8.am. The theme for the day was, Responsibility of youth towards church and family. Fr. Lawrence was the resource person for the day.
During mass Fr. Lawrence told youth to make choice in their life. He asked them to choose Jesus in their life that continuously supports and help to take up responsibility, towards church and family.

During the session he elaborated the theme with captions like; RISE AND SHINE, TO BECOME FRIENDS OF JESUS, TO BUILD A COMMUNITY OF FAITH AND TO BRING UNITY IN THEIR RESPECTIVE VILLAGES. That they need to carry on the work of the church, saying that, they are the church. Now is the time for them to spread the gospel by their very self and also with respect to their parents, elders and by being example to their brothers and sisters.
After the session they were given six questions to discuss in groups. They were divided in seven groups. Following are the questions:
1- How to proclaim the gospel?
2- What are their talents?
3- How to make use of their talents?
4- What can be done to bring unity in their villages?
5- How can they make village youth groups active?
6- To Show belongingness to the parish?
They all came up with practical answers which they promised to do in their villages.
After the lunch Fr. Avinash the Nadiad deanery youth coordinator encouraged and motivated youth to take up responsibility and to be obedient to parents and elders.
For the cultural activity they were given different topics, like; family, Education, responsibility, Society, Church etc. all of them prepared skirts and came up with fantastic performance with lots of talents, without forgetting the topic given to them. It was really great.
Finally Fr. Paresh the youth director of the Diocese spoke few words of encouragement and motivation after which they had two dances, youth song, vote of thanks which was proposed by youth president of the parish. Lastly they had national song and concluded with national anthem. All went home happily with a cup of tea.

2) Umreth Deanery organizes youth day at Balasinor.
The youth day for the Umreth Deanery of Ahmedabad diocese was organized at Karuna Niketan Parish, Balasinor on 13th February 2011.
Frs. Peter and Titus were hosting this programme in the parish for the denary. Seventy five youth from seven parishes were present. The programme began at 10.30 a.m. with an inauguration function with lighting the lamp and prayer dance by the balasinor youth.Mrs. Indu the active parishner and teacher of Nirmala Niketan School, Balasinor was the chief guest of the day. Fr. Titus gave the key note address for the youth in which he insisted on having aim in life. Fr. Parish the diocesan youth director was the main resource person who spoke on two important aspect in youngster’s life namely; obey your parents and I can do all things possible because Christ is the one who strengthens me. After a sumptuous meal, Fr. Mayank facilitated the youngsters in drawing up the plan for their parish youth activities. It ended with cultural programme with talent show competitions. Youngsters took part with enthusiasm and took away prizes for best singing and dancing.
Four parish priests and six nuns were present right through the programme. Fr. Titus thanked all for making this day an enjoyable for everyone. All went away with a sense of content and satisfaction.

Altar Servers Rally
The Altar Servers Rally for the Umreth Deanery of Ahmedabad diocese was organized by Don Bosco Kapadvanj on 6th February 2011. Fr. Mayank and Bro. Royston were the main coordinator for the entire day’s programme. Sixty altar servers from five parishes were present. The programme began at 11.00 a.m. with some ice breakers which was conducted by our aspirants. After that Fr. Mayank gave a session entitled “Becoming a Saint”. During the session Fr. Mayank presented the elements of Youth Spirituality which consisted of seven aspects after the example of St.John Bosco; namely celebrate life in holiness, fulfill your duties, accept suffering in life, Be united with God,

Inauguration of Adas Church
Dt.11-02-2011અડાસ ગામમાં શ્રદ્ધાની શતાબ્દીની ઉજવણી નિમિતે આજે રેવ. બિશપ થોમસ મેકવાન દ્વારા અડાસ ગામે નવા દેવાલયનું ઉદ્ઘઘાટન કરવામાં આવ્યું. આજુ બાજુના ગામડાઓ અને શહેરોમાંથી શ્રદ્ધાળુઓએ આ શુભ પ્રસંગમાં હાજરી આપી હતી. ભવ્ય ખ્રિસ્તયજ્ઞ બાદ મહિલા મંડળ દ્વારા ગરબો અને બાળકો દ્વારા ડાન્સનું માનોરંજન પૂરું પાડવામાં આવ્યું હતું.
આ સુંદર દેવાલય લોકોમાં શ્રદ્ધાનો વધારો કરવામાં અને પ્રાથનામય જીવન જીવવામાં મદદ અને સિંચન કરતુ રહેશે. આ દિવસે ગ્રામજનોમાં ભારે ઉમંગ અને ઉત્સવ દેખાતો હતો.

Today The New Church Of Adas(Anand parish) was inaugurated by our Rev. Bishop Thomas Macwan (Ahmedabad Dio.) The clergy and many people from around villages and cities gathered for the celebration. It was a vibrant day for all the devotees of Adas village. Faith and hard work for the new church was felt today in Adas in Gujarat.

ગુલાબમાળા યાત્રા
તા ૦૬-૦૨-૨૦૧૦ રવિવાર, સ્થળ:ખંભોળજ દેવળઆજે સવારે ખંભોળજ પવિત્ર ધામે લોક લાડીલા બીશપ શ્રી થોમસ મેકવાન દ્વારા ભવ્ય ખ્રિસ્ત યજ્ઞ અર્પણ કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. આ યજ્ઞ દરમ્યાન ૬૦ જેટલા યુવાનો અને યુવતીઓ ને બળસંસ્કાર બીશપશ્રીના વરદ હસ્તે આપવામાં આવ્યો હતો. અને ત્યારબાદ ૩૦ જેટલા બાળકોને પ્રથમ પરમપ્રસાદ સંસ્કાર આપવામાં આવ્યો હતો.હજારો ની સંખ્યામાં ઉમટેલી માનવ મેદનીએ આ પવિત્ર સંસ્કાર વિધિમાં ભાગ લીધો હતો.
બાળકો પ્રભુ ઈસુના શરીરનું ગ્રહણ કરીને અને બળસંસ્કાર મેળવી આપણી ઉગતી પેઢી ઈસુના દાસ બનવા માટે, અને માતા ધર્મસભાના પાયા બને તે માટે અને તેમની શ્રધામાં વધારો થાય તે હેતુસર માટેનો આ પ્રસંગે બીશપશ્રીએ ઉત્તમ બોધપાઠ પીરસ્યો હતો.
દરેકના જીવનમાં ક્યાંક ને ક્યાંક મુશ્કેલી આવતી જ હોઈ છે અને તે મુશ્કેલીનું નિવારણ લાવી આપનાર આનાથોની માતા મારિયા દરેક ગામમાં અને શહેરમાં જઈ શકે અને ગુજરાતની ધર્મસભા વધુ ધાર્મિક અને ઇસુમય બને તે હેતુસર ગુલાબમાળા યાત્રાનું આયોજન ફા. આરુલ અને ફા. વિક્રમ મહીડા દ્વારા અને પેરીશ કાઉન્સિલના સભ્યો અને યુવાનોના સાથસહકારથી કરવામાં આવ્યું છે. આ અનોખી યાત્રા દેવળમાંથી નીકળીને બીશપશ્રી દ્વારા ખ્રિસ્તી મહોલ્લામાં અર્પણ કરી હતી જે ત્યાંથી દરેક ગામ અને શહેરમાં યાત્રા કરશેSaturday, February 5, 2011

"ના હિંદુ નીકળ્યા ના મુસલમાન નીકળ્યા, ખોલી કબરો જોયું તો ઇન્સાન નીકળ્યા" ગઝલકારની પંક્તિઓની અનુભૂતિ કરાવતો વિદ્યાનગરનો "સર્વ ધર્મ મેળો" લોકો દરેક ધર્મ વિષે જોવા ને જાણવા ઉમટ્યાં હતાં. Dr. આમ્રપાલી સર્વ ધર્મ સમભાવની લાગણીને મહત્વનું સ્થાન આપે છે અને દર વર્ષે ગાંધી નિર્વાણ દિન નિમિતે બે દિવસીય સર્વ ધર્મ મેળાનું આયોજન કરે છે. તા ૩૧-૦૧-૨૦૧૧ અને ૦૨-૦૨-૨૦૧૧ ના દિવસે દરેક ધર્મના ધર્મગુરુ, ધર્મબંધુઓ,અને સાધ્વી બહેનો દ્વારા એક અજોડ સાથ સહકારથી આ પ્રવૃત્તિને વેગ મળ્યો હતો.
ખ્રિસ્તીધર્મ ની સમજુતી આપવા માટે ફા મયંક SDB અને સી.રીટા (Daughters Of St Paul ) હાજર રહી પ્રદર્શન અને ધર્મને લગતા પુસ્તક, રોસાળ અને બાઈબલ ની સગવડ અને સામગ્રી દરેક ખ્રિસ્તી અને બિનખ્રિસ્તીઓ માટે પૂરી પાડી ઉમદા ફાળો આપ્યો હતો.
Dr.ઈલા મેકવાનનો આ મેળાને સફળ બનવા માટે ઉત્તમ અને અગ્રણ્ય ફાળો રહ્યો હતો
પરસ્પર પ્રેમ, શાંતિ અને લાગણીની ભાવના અને ઈશ્વર એક જ અને એક સમાન છે તેના દર્શન અને સાચી અનુભૂતિ દરેક આવનાર અને ભાગ લેનાર ને થઇ હતી તેવું કહેવું યોગ્ય કહી શકાય.
આખરે ટૂંકમાં લખું તો પર્વતોમાંથી વહેતી દરેક નદી આખરે દરિયામાં એક થાય છે તે આ મેળા દ્વારા રજુ થતું હતું
Dr. Ammrapali (Ex-vice Chanceller Of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedker, Open Unviversity Ahmedabad)rorganized "Inter Faith Get Together" at Sardar Patel University, Vidhaya Nagar, Anand on 31-01-2011 and on 02-02-2011. All the Religious people got together and prepared the exhibition. Fr. Mayank SDB and Sr. Rita (Daughters Of St. Paul) prepared a beautiful exhibition on Christian religion with the help of Anand, Karamsad and Bhumel Youth. It was a wonderful experience to share faith with each other. All Hindus , Muslims and Catholic priests and nuns explained their faith to all school and college students and people.
By the "Inter Faith Get Together" everyone who came felt and experienced that All religions are meant to spread Love and peace and they all lead us to one God.
