Catholic Priest Attacked in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal : 30/03/2011,

A catholic priest, Fr. Sebastian Kaiparambil aged about 45, was attacked in Badwha, Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. The incident took place around 2.30 am in the early morning of today. He was sleeping in his room while three unidentified persons entered in his room. They beat him up and he is admitted in Chauitram Hospital, Indore. He is under going treatment for head injury. The culprits have stolen around fifty thousand rupees and two mobiles too.

Public Relation Officer of the Khandwa Diocese, Fr. Philip Kadthanam who visited the incident site said, “incident is very serious, he is very badly beaten.” He said that there is also an anxiety that whether a dismissed teacher a day before is involved in the incident. While beating him they were asking him to hand over the documents, but they did not specify what documents they are looking for.”
The principal of the school Sr. Rita said, “the teacher was dismissed upon the numberless complaints from the parents and teachers. He has been served notices many times but we are not sure whether he is involved in the incident.”

He is the Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Church and manager of the St. Mary’s Convent School in the Diocese of Khandwa for the last just one year. Bishops Dr. Durairaj, while condemning the incident said that Father Sebastian is a very active missionary, his relations with people are very good.”

Town Inspector, Mansingh Takur, told, “we are looking into all possibilities, even though the name of  the doubtful teacher is not mentioned , we are also investigating the matter. We are also taking all steps possible to nab the culprits. We will also give sufficient security to Christians.”

Meanwhile Archbishop Dr. Leo Cornelio, Chairman of the Bishops Council, M.P, has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister sitting present beating up of the Priest and the recent incident of Statue break at Jhabua (18/03/2011),where so far no one has been arrested. We are not sure of the persons involved in the incident of beating up of Fr. Sebastian but we are worried about the incident. It is to be noted that every time during the major Christian Festivals we face these types of incidents so we have approached the administration to nab the culprits and provide security to Christians in the State.

It is to be recalled that the Bishops Council of Madhya Pradesh, Fr. Anand Muttungal, has already filed a cases in the Madhya Pradesh High Court asking to take action on the erring officials in taking action against the people who attacked the Christians in the State for the last five years. The Council is thinking of brining theses incidents to the notice of the Court if the police fail to take proper action on the culprits.

Mass Wedding In Songhad_આદિવાસી સમૂહ લગ્ન

Samuh Lagna (Mass wedding) on 27-3-2011 at SHAKTI, Songadh in South Gujarat.

“It is very encouraging to see 41 couples participating in the mass wedding. Last year it was 29 and this year 12 more. We must make efforts to reduce our expenses on such events and save that money for the education of our children” told Tusharbhai Chaudhary, the State Minister of Road and Transport, Government of India. In her inimitable style, Induben Gamit, a woman leader from Vyara advised the new couples to be faithful to each other, support one another in all circumstances and to uphold the sanctity of marriage”. The crowd cheered her very much.

The marriage procession started at 10.30 am from Raj Hotel. Because of the huge crowd carrying their beloved bride grooms on their shoulders and dancing with their beloved ones, the traffic at the National High Way No. 6 came to a halt for some time. At the entrance of the wedding gate, the bride grooms were welcomed by women as per Adivasi customs.

Once the bride grooms were seated in the mandap, then the brides came to the mandap. The function started with singing of “Adivasi gauvrav geet” (adivasi song) followed by taking an oath to be faithful to adivasi community. Then the organizars welcomed them with flowers. After that the distinguished guests were also welcomed. Knatibhai Gamit, the BJP President of Tapi District was also present. He also joined the procession and danced with the crowd. After this, the cultural team of SHAKTI-LAHRC put up a skit to help the new couples understand the importance of marriage and the joy of supporting each other throughout life. This was well appreciated by the crowd.

Then three elders – one from Vasava, another from Gamit and a third one from Chaudhary groups performed the marriage rite as per adivasi traditions. During the ceremony, the couples exchanged garlands and the bride grooms put the mangal sutra (the holy symbol of bond) on the brides. Then the whole crowd clapped hands in appreciation and shouted some slogans to encourage and support them.

After this, some elders came forward to bless them. They received the marriage certificates from the hands of the Minister. The new couples were given 14 types of useful gifts. Then the list of all those who had donated both in cash and kind was read out in public. The same list was also exhibited for the public. Then from the newly wedded couples, one bride and one bride groom came forward to thank all and specially the organizers for taking the trouble of organizing this mass wedding. Santoshbhai Gamit-the bride groom said, “If my parents had to get me married, they would have to spend at least Rs. 50,000/-, leave alone the expenses of the bride. By joining this mass wedding, I could boldly say that each couple has saved at least Rs. One lakh which means the organizers have helped us to save today at least Rs. 41 lakhs. We thank them for it”.

The function ended by singing the National Anthem. Then all the 4,500 people enjoyed the wedding meal and left home with a lot of joy on their faces.

આદિવાસી ધર્મસભાનાં ૫૦ વર્ષની ઉજવણી_50 years of Tribal Church

ગઈ કાલે વ્યારા તાબાના ઝાંખરી ગામે ધર્મસભાના ૫૦ વર્ષની ઉજવણી કરવામાં આવી હતી.

દક્ષીણ ગુજરાતની વ્યારા ધર્મસભાની શરૂઆત એક ઈશુસંઘી ફા.સમાધા એસ જે દ્વારા ૧૯૬૧ માં કરવામાં આવી હતી. શરૂઆતમાં ફા. સમાધા સુરતથી ટ્રેનમાં વ્યારા સુધી અપ ડાઉન કરતા અને ત્યાંથી ઝાંખરી ગામે જવા માટે કોઈક વખત ચાલતા તો કોઈક વખત બળદ ગાળામાં મુસાફરી કરતા.

ઝાંખરી ગામમાં રહેતા મંગળદાસ ગામીતે  શ્રદ્ધાનો સ્વીકાર કર્યો અને ફાધરો ને બીજા ગામ સુધી શ્રધા માટે  લઇ જવામાં ઉત્તમ ફાળો આપ્યો હતો.  ફા. ફ્રાન્સીસ જુબેલીયા એસ. જે ફા. વેલી ડી'સોઝા એસ. જે. (જેઓ હાલમાં માંડલ માં  સેવા આપી રહ્યા છે)  અને  ફા. સમાધાની સાથે જોડાયા અને ત્યાંથી કામ વધતા અને ગરીબ આદિવાસી લોકોમાં ભણતર વધે તે હેતુસર વ્યારામાં જમીન રાખીને બોર્ડીંગ બનાવી.

બોર્ડીંગની સાર સંભાળ રાખવા માટે અને જયારે ફાધરો  જંગલમાં આદિવાસી સાથે હોઈ તારે બોર્ડીંગમાં ભણતા વિદ્યાર્થીઓની દેખ રેખ રાખવા માટે બ્ર. આલોયીસ મેકવાન (મૂળ નાવલીના ) ની નિમણુક કરવામાં આવી. જેઓ આ વિસ્તારમાં આલું પ્રકાશ તરકે ઓળખાવા લાગ્યા.

૧૯૬૮ માં ભયંકર દુકાળ દક્ષીણ ગુજરાતમાં પડ્યો અને તેણે   ઘણા ગરીબ બાળકો, પુરુષો અને સ્ત્રીઓનો જીવ ભરખી લીધો. ગરીબ વધુ કંગાળ બન્યાં. દુકાળની કારમી પરિસ્થિતિમાં સરકારનો સાથના ન મળતા ફધારો દિલ્હીથી પરમિશન લઇ ને મુંબઈમાં અમેરિકાથી આવતા અનાજ અને તેલ લાવી અહીના લોકોને પુરા પાડ્યા હતા.

આ સમયે Missionaries Of Sacred Heart નાં સિસટરોએ આદિવાસી છોકરીઓ માટે બોર્ડીંગ ની સ્થાપના કરી અને ફાધરો સાથે પણ દરેકની મુલાકાત અને ધર્મશીક્ષણ આપવાનું ચાલુ કર્યું. આમ. અહીની ધર્મસભા વધુ મજબુત બનવા લાગી જે આજે રસ્તામાં આવતી મુશ્કેલીઓમાંથી પસાર થઇ ગઈ કાલે ૫૦ વર્ષ પુરા કર્યાં.

આ દિવસે ૪૫૦૦ આદિવાસી બહેનો ભાઈઓ અને બાળકો ઝાંખરી ગામે ભેગા થયા હતા. શ્રદ્ધાને લાવનાર અને તેના માટે જીવ આપનાર દરેક ને અહી યાદ કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા. ભવ્ય સામોયું અને આદિવાસી નૃત્ય સાથે ફા. વેલી ડી'સોઝાને જેઓ હાલમાં માંડલ તાબામાં છે.  તથા ફા. કોરી એસ .જે, ફા. ફ્રાન્સીસ (માંડલ), ફા. કિશોર એસ . જે. (માંડલ ), ફા. રોની એસ. જે. (સભા પુરોહિત, વ્યારા), ફા. સુનીલ સોલંકી (ઉપ સભાપુરોહિત ) ફા. કિરીટ પટેલીયા (સુબીર) અને કથાકાર ફા. વિનય મેકવાન અને અન્ય ફાધરો, બ્રધરો અને સિસટરો હાજર રહી આ શ્રદ્ધાની ઉજવણીમાં વધુ રંગ પૂર્યો હતો.

દરેક ગામના આદિવાસી ભાઈ બહેનોએ જાતે આ ઉજવણીનું આયોજન કર્યું હતું. આ કાર્યક્રમ પાછળ વ્યારાનાં સભાપુરોહિત માનનીય ફા. રોની એસ .જે.  અને ઉપ સભાપુરોહિત ફા. સુનીલ સોલંકીનો મુખ્ય ફાળો રહ્યો હતો.

In The year 1961 a Jesuit priest Samadha SJ (passed away) with Fr. Valley D’oza SJ and Francis ZUBELDIA SJ (passed away) went to the village called Zankhari to share the word of God with Adivasi (Tribal).As fathers were belonged to Surat community, they used to come daily by train. After getting down in Vyara railway station. they managed to visit the villages on or by bullock cart.

The first catechist Mangaldas Gamit accepted the faith and helped the fathers to reach out the interior villages of Vyara district.

Later on Fr. Vally D’Soza and Fr. Borobiyo who bought a land in Vayara for bulding a boarding for the poor students of Adivasi (Tribals). The students stayed at the hostel and stuied in Grampanchayat school (Local schools run by Gujarat government) at Vyara.

In order to take care of the property and the boarding, Bro. Aloysius Joseph Macwan from Navli appointed in 1966 who took care as the priests used to go for the ministry in the interior villages. . To make people aware of their rights, small plays,dramas were taught to the students and started activity like educating students in the villages.


In 1968 famine broke out across South Gujarat and that made poor very poorer. There was a shortage of food, water and clothes. People were dieing due to lack of food and water. The fathers brought Food from Delhi and Mumbai which was imported by the Indian government from America and they helped every Adivasi Of the territory.

New projects for the Adivasi planned out for their education and better life. Day by day the word of God was spread by many more new priest and nuns. Because of these efforts today people have good position in the Society and in government offices.

Sisters of Missionaries Of Sacred Heart arrived in Vyara, Gujarat and started dispensary for poor and boarding for poor Adivasi (Tribal) girls and also helped in sharing the word of God. And with the help of the Sisters, within 10 years the Vyara flourished with the faith. Looking at the Faith and people there was a need of having


Yesterday was a relishing day for all Adivasi (Tribal) who believe in Christ. They celebrated 50 years a Zankhari village in Vyara parish. The celebration was well organized by the people with the help of parish priest Fr. Ronie SJ and Asst. parish priest Fr. Sunil Solnki SJ. Around 4500 women,men and children got together to remember the people who worked for  their identity in the world of faith and to celebrate the Golden jubilee.

ફા.ફ્રાન્સીસ્કો પલાઉની દ્ધીશતાબ્દી

આજે કાર્મેલાઈટ મિશનરીસ તેમના સ્થાપક સુધન્ય ફા.ફ્રાન્સીસ્કો પલાઉની દ્ધીશતાબ્દીની ઉજવણી કરે છે તેમનો જન્મ સને ૧૮૧૧ માં થયો હતો એટલે ૨૦૧૧ માં બસો વર્ષ પુરા થાય છે તેમના આ મંડળના ૧૫૦ વર્ષ સેવા અર્થે પુરા થશે આમ બે ઉજવણી સાથે થઇ છે

સુધન્ય ફા. ફ્રાન્સીસ્કો પલાઉનો જન્મ ૨૯-૧૨-૧૮૧૧ માં સ્પેન દેશમાં આવેલા આયટોના ગામમાં થયો હતો.તેમના માતા પિતાનું સાતમું સંતાન હતા. કુટુંબ પહેલેથીજ ધાર્મિક અને તેથી જન્મની સાથે જ તેમને સ્નાન સંસ્કાર આપવામાં આવ્યો હતો. મોટા થતા જ દેવળની બધીજ પ્રવૃતિઓમાં ભાગ લેતા. તેમના શિક્ષણકાળ દરમ્યાન જ તેમના શિક્ષણગણે તેમના ઉમદા ગુણોનો અનુભવ કર્યો હતો.

મોટા થઇ કાર્મેલાઈટ ઓર્ડરમાં જોડાયા અને તે સમયે સ્પેનમાં બળવાખોરોએ સેમીનરીસ અને કોન્વેન્ટઓ ઉપર હુમલા કરી સન્યસ્ત લોકોને ક્રુરતાથી મારી નાખ્યા હતા અને સેમીનરીસ અને કોન્વેન્ટ જીવન ઉપર પ્રતિબંધ મુકાયો. જે ફાધર્સ અને સિસ્ટરસ આ ક્રુરતામાંથી બચી ગયા તેમાના એક સુધન્ય ફા. ફ્રાન્સીસ્કો પલાઉ હતા

પ્રભુનું કામ ચાલુ રાખવા માટે તેઓ ફ્રાંસ દેશમાં આવી ગયા તેમની પવિત્ર જીવન શૈલી જોઇને ઘણા તેમના શિષ્યો બન્યા અને જયારે બળવો શાંત થયો ત્યારે તેઓ બાર્સિલોના પાછા આવ્યા અને ત્યાં શુભ સંદેશ ફેલાવાનું કાર્ય શરૂ થયું. તેમણે "સદ્ગુણોની શાળા" નામની શાળા શરૂ કરી ત્યારે અમુક તત્વો ને લાગ્યુ કે આ રાજકારણી માટે નો ખોટો પ્રચાર છે તેથી તેમને ઇબીઝા નામના ટાપુ ઉપર દેશ નિકાલ કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા. વેદરા નામનો એક નાનો ટાપુ જે મેડીતેરિયન સાગર વચ્ચે આવેલો છે ત્યાં ધ્યાન અને મનન-ચિંતન કરવા લાગ્યા આમ તેમને સાક્ષાત ભગવાનનો ઊંડો અનુભવ થયો તેમણે તેમના જીવનથી સિદ્ધ કરી બતાવ્યું કે પ્રાર્થનામાંથી જ શક્તિ અને પ્રેરણા મળે છે. આમ પ્રભુની પ્રેરણાથી આખા ટાપુના લોકોનો હૃદયપલટો કર્યો. દેશ નિકાલનો સમય પૂરો થતા તે સ્પેન પાછા ફર્યા. સ્પેનમાં અને ઇબીઝા ટાપુ અને ફ્રાન્સમાં તેમનું કાર્ય ચાલુ રહ્યું. આ સાથે પવિત્ર પ્રવૃતિઓનો વિસ્તાર વધતો રહ્યો.

આજે આ પવિત્ર કાર્ય ૪૦ દેશોમાં તેમની સંસ્થા કાર્યરત રહી તેમનું શુભ કાર્ય ધપાવી રહી છે.તેમના જન્મના ૨૦૦ વર્ષ અને તેમની સંસ્થાના ૧૫૦ વર્ષની ઉજવણી શરૂઆત આજે કરી રહ્યા છે ત્યારે સલુણ ગામના "પુષ્પાલય" ખાતે રહેતા તેમના સાધ્વી બહેનો કહે છે,
"આજનો દિવસ અમારા માટે શુભ દિવસ છે કારણકે અમારી સંસ્થાના સ્થાપકની દ્ધીશતાબ્દીના ભાગ રૂપે ઉજવણી અને ૧૫૦ સંસ્થાના વર્ષની ઉજવણી કરી રહ્યા છે."
આ શુભ ઉજવણી નિમિતે ફા.રોયસટન એસ.જે. (આણંદ) ખ્રિસ્ત યજ્ઞ દરમ્યાન સુંદર ઉપદેશ આપ્યો હતો. ખ્રિસ્તયજ્ઞમાં ફા. ફ્રાન્સીસ ઝેવિયર (સભા પુરોહિત,સલુણ) ફા. પરેઝા અને જાણીતા ફાધરો હાજર રહી ખ્રિસ્તયજ્ઞનો મહિમા વધાર્યો હતો.

Carmelite Missionaries congregation was started in Spain by Carmelite Priest called Fr. Francisco Palau Y quer. He was the seventh child of the Palau-Quer-Family. He was baptized on the same day as his parents were devout Catholics. He was a diligent student. Played with children of the village, sang with his father in church choir. He was an extra ordinary child.Become young and went for higher studies.He joined Carmelite Missionaries after his study.

Because of the socio political situation in Spain he had to leave the seminary and also Spain his own country. Thus, he spent most of his life outside seminary, but living the real Carmelite life - the prayer and contemplation. Thus he lived very hard life. but God was guiding him and made him the instrument to begin a congregation which is now existing in 40 countries.

શનિવારના રોજ સંત જોસેફનો તહેવાર કરમસદ અને ઉત્તરસંડામાં ઉજવવામાં આવ્યો હતો .

કરમસદમાં સંત જોસેફના સ્ટેચ્યુ સાથે પવિત્ર સરઘસ શ્રી પ્રકાશ પરમારના ઘરેથી (સંત જોસેફ સોસાયટી) થી સંત જોસેફ દેવળ સુધી ભક્તિભાવથી કાઢવામાં આવ્યું હતું. ત્યારબાદ દેવળમાં ભવ્ય ખ્રિસ્ત યજ્ઞ કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો જેમાં દરેક હાજર શ્રધાળુઓએ ભાગ લઇ પાવન થયા હતા.અહી ફા.વેલી કરમસદના સભા પુરોહિત દ્વારા ખ્રિસ્ત યજ્ઞ અર્પણ કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો.

યુવાનો યુવતીઓ, બાળકો,બહેનો અને વડીલો આ પ્રસંગમાં હાજર રહી વધુ રંગતભર્યો બનાવ્યો હતો.

આવા પવિત્ર પ્રસંગ એક બીજામાં શ્રદ્ધાનો વધારો થાય તે રજુ કરે છે

Women's Day in Don Bosco

ગઈ કાલે ડોન બોસ્કો કપડવંજ ખાતે મહિલા દિનની ઉજવણી ધામધૂમથી ઉજવવામાં આવી હતી, દુર ગામડાઓમાંથી આવેલ મહિલાઓ અને યુવતીઓની મેદનીથી અને ત્યાં તેમના દ્વારા કરવામાં આવેલા ગરબા, શેરી નાટકો અને એક પાત્ર અભિનય જેવા કાર્યક્રમોથી ડોન બોસ્કો ગુંજી ઉઠયું હતું.

લાજ કાઢવી. આઘું ઓઢવું જેવી રીતોમાંથી ફા મયંકે Dhrasti સંસ્થા દ્વારા સ્ત્રીને બહાર કાઢી અને તેને સ્વતંત્ર અને સ્વાલંબી બનાવવા માટે એક ક્રાંતિકારી પગલું ભર્યું છે અને તેનું ફળ અહી મહિલા દિન નિમિતે જોવા મળ્યું હતું. આજે કપડવંજના અંતરાળ ગામડાઓમાં પણ સ્ત્રી પોતાના પગભર થયેલી જોવા મળે છે. આ મહિલા દિને સ્ત્રી વધુ પુરુષ સમાન બને અને સ્વરોજગાર તરફ વડે અને સામાજિક થતા આર્થિક પરિસ્થિતિઓનો સામનો અને સમજણ મળે તે હેતુસર જુદા જુદા પ્રવચનો આપવામાં આવ્યા હતા

આ કાર્યક્રમ દરમ્યાન ફા. આઈજેક SDB અને ફા ઇવાન SDB તથા હાજર રહેલ SDB બ્રધરોનો ઉત્તમ ફાળો રહ્યો હતો.

In solidarity with grieving families in Japan we shall come together to mourn all those who have left this planet as a result of that Tsunami, Earthquake and the volcano. There is something that all of us can do when plans are made to destroy planet earth and human lives. Nuclearisation is one such conspiracy by governments and policy-makers. With a nuclear leak, Japan is battling to avoid a nuclear disaster. A huge blast has caused damage to nuclear power plants there. Several workers were reported to have been injured and exposed to radiation. The toll had risen to at least 1,700 deaths. As many as 10,000 people were missing in the town of Minamisanriku in Miyagi prefecture. There were also reports that the hourly radiation levels at the damaged Japanese nuclear plant are increasing the risk of developing cancer for anyone exposed to the leak. Japanese TV has warned people living near Fukushima nuclear power station to stay indoors. Residents were being told to turn off air-conditioners and not to drink tap water. People going outside were also been told to avoid exposing their skin and to cover their faces with masks and wet towels.

The reactor’s cooling system has failed. Radiation inside the plant soared to 1,000 times its normal level, officials said, triggering evacuation orders for residents. Workers were battling to cool and stabilise the cores of three reactors. It was unclear to what extent the reactors’ external structures had been damaged. Officials and scientists were offering conflicting verdicts on the severity to public health. Initially, more than 3,000 people living within two miles of the plant were evacuated, with those within a seven-mile radius told to stay indoors. But with a third of the town underwater after a nearby dam burst and radiation levels continuing to rise, officials warned of a leak and tripled the safety cordon to six miles. The government has ordered the evacuation of 45,000 people. The Japanese do not have the situation under control. No state could think of the situation under control with nuclear installations and weapons. By its very nature nuclearisation is dangerous. All sections of society from Madurai irrespective of our different professions are invited to participate in large numbers and make it a grand success. સમારભના મુખ્ય મહેમાનપદે રંગભુમિ અને ટીવી કલાકાર શ્રી.હસમુખ મેકવાન, અતિથિપદે શ્રી.અતોન આપીયન,પ્રમુખશ્રી,ગુજરાતી કેથલિક સમાજ,ગુજરાત, અને ફાધર રોકી પિન્ટો,આચર્ય, સેંટ મેરિસ સ્કુલ,નડિયાદ તેમજ સ્પર્ધના તજગ્નશ્રીઓ ઈશુ ડભાણીયા અને રાજુલ આઝાદ ઉપસ્થિત રહ્ય હતા. કવિ સમેલનમા ઉપસ્થિત કવિઓએ પોતાની ક્રુતિઓ રજુ કરી હતી.

કવિતા સ્પર્ધમા પ્રથમ સ્થાને પ્રા.મેબલ મેકવાન, દ્રિતીય સ્થાને શ્રી.કે.ડી. મેકવાન અને ત્રિત્ય સ્થાને મહેશ સ્પર્શ તથા વાર્તા સ્પર્ધામા પ્રથમ સ્થાને નિર્મલા મેક્વાન, દ્રિતીય સ્થાને કેરોલિન મેક્વાન અને ત્રિત્ય સ્થાને મહેશ સ્પર્શ વિજેતા જાહેર થયા હતા. વિજેતાઓને ટ્રોફી તેમજ સ્પર્ધકોને મહાનુભાવો ના વરદ હસ્તે પ્રમાણપત્ર આપવામા આવ્યા હતા.

International Women's Day_વિશ્વ મહિલા દિન

The day started with Mass for the catholic women where Fr.Charles emphasized the need of women working towards the church. Let your power poured towards the faith formation. Later the cultural program presented by various village women were prize worthy. There was Kavali by Muslim women which highlighted the theme of the day unity and oneness.


The various Drama/ skits performed by women made to think about our society especially they targeted the various bad habits like gambling, drinking, chewing of sopari etc. of course the guests Mz. Rita of Bhrama Kumaries really awaken them to the spiritual world where she said to them as most of the Gods are depicted as women we too must become like Goddess/ Devikas.

Thanks to the youth of Tarapur for arranging and cooking and giving delicious meal. Of course my co-workers the Ursulian sisters were main cause behind this whole program and women activities in the parish.
