“Past two generations still have sweet memories of Late Smt. Jasodaben Macwan. Born in 1936 and hailing from a renowned family of Sojitra, Jasodaben had little opportunities to take up higher studies. She had no option but to get married. She got married to a gentleman named Jacob Clemens of Bedva. Before this, she had joined as a primary teacher at Prantij of Sabarkantha and later at St. Joseph’s primary school at Gomtipur.
The years that followed became very tough for her. With a meager amount of salary earned by Shri Jacob Clemens, her husband, she had to manage the show. She became good house-wife, an author, social reformer and a business woman. During her active involvement with various committees of Congress (I), she founded in 1992, a non-governmental organization called Rachna Khadi Gramodhyog Seva Sadan.”
Keeping in mind the well-being of poors, women and children alike, Jasodaben put her level best efforts for the upliftment of weaker sections of the society. She, however, could not achieve many goals set before her, as her old age and health did not allow her continue with the same zeal and enthusiasm she had nurtured before. It was then she felt it necessary that the show must go on. The organization of her dream was then handed over to her daughter Smita Macwan settled at Vadodara.
Circumstances, however, did not permit her daughter to keep going. Later, she took initiative and with the help of some well-wishers decided to hold a free Medical Camp for the down-trodden residing in slum pockets.
Accordingly, on 28th October, 2012; Sunday, the first free Medical Check-up Camp was held at Chhani Jakat Naka; Vadodara. Rev. Fr. Lucas S.J, with prayers and blessings, cut the ribbon and opened the Camp. Smt. Smita Macwan, President of the Trust reiterated the need to serve the poor and affirmed to continue various social activities and nourish the incomplete dream of late Smt. Jasodaben Macwan, the former President of the Trust. More than 200 beneficiaries were benefited. Free medicines were disbursed, more than 100 blood samples were checked up for detecting diabetes.
At the end, Certificates of appreciation were distributed to the entire medical team as also to volunteers at the hands of Rev. Fr. Jayant Rathod S.J, the Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Church.”
