 International Women’s Day 2013 
(‘Sahkar Narino Dhabkar’):

Hangati Mahila Mandals began in 1996. It began to get the women out of the four walls of the house and to help them regain their lost dignity as persons. We began the only tribal women’s trust called Hangati trust to carry forward this noble cause. The main goal of this trust is to educate women and make them aware of the social reality and to organise women and capacitate them in various fields of life so that they may become capable of running their life with pride and dignity. This trust is working in more than 30 villages of Songadh taluka, of Tapi district. This trust runs remedial classes for primary school students (almost 2000) and health education for women and children. They also conduct trainings for farmers to upgrade their skills in agriculture and animal husbandry, which in big way has changed the lives of the people in our target villages and has helped the tribals to increase income.  

In 1999 as a result of lot of organisational effort at the grass root, Hangati trust began the very first tribal women’s savings and credit cooperative in south Gujarat. In this cooperative there are 3000 members. These members save money and get credit up to Rs. 50000. This cooperative helps poor women to get credit for agriculture, health, education, etc. As the women have started saving money in their own name and are getting credit from their own cooperative, they have gained respect and importance in the family. The cooperative has assets worth Rs. 2 crores. Seeing the fruit of our cooperative other 8 missions came to Hangati, to learn about the organisation and getting motivated they also started the cooperatives for women in their own missions, with our initial support.

 Mahila din: is celebrated mainly to get the women out of their houses and village once in a year. This is also an occasion to bring out the hidden talents and to create a joyful and memorable day for the women. As the year (2012-13) was declared as the ‘International Year of the Cooperatives’, the theme of the day was kept - ‘sahkar narino dhabkar’. The program for the day is selected, planned and executed by the women themselves. Today they put up more than 10 items including Rathva, Vasavi, Bhili and Gamit tribal dances. A lady Collector and DSP were invited as the guests.  At the end of the celebration all the women together with the guests were fed sumptuous meal, for which each woman had contributed rice and daal.

ગઈ કાલે વિશ્વ મહિલા દિનની ઉજવણી સમગ્ર વિશ્વમાં કરવામાં આવી. સમાચારપત્રો થી લઇ ટેલિવિઝનમાં તેની ઝાંખી જોવા મળી. એવીજ રીતે દક્ષિણ ગુજરાતના માંડળ-વ્યારાના આદિવાસી મહિલાઓ દ્વારા  મહિલા દિનની મોટી ઉજવણી કરવામાં આવી હતી.

 હજારોની સંખ્યામાં આનંદથી પધારેલા આ બહેનો ભેગા થયા હતાં. હાંગાતી મહિલા મંડળ જે આદિવાસી બહેનો દ્વારા, બહેનો માટે સ્થાપના કરવામાં આવી છે હાંગાતી દ્વારા અહી આદિવાસી બહેનો માટે બચત મંડળની સ્થાપના પણ શરુ કરેલ છે જેનું  બે કરોડ જેટલુ ભંડોળ આ બહેનો દ્વારા ભેગું કરવામાં આવ્યું છે તે  થકી સર્વ આદિવાસી બહેનોના વિકાસ અર્થે કામ કરવામાં આવે છે તેની ઝાંખી માટે વીડિઓ નિહાળશો.
