“Christ the King” new church inaugurated in Don Bosco- Dakor

A beautiful Christ The King (Raj Rajeshvar) Church was inaugurated in Don Bosco - Dakor on 08-11-2015

Special Thanks to all the Don Bosco fathers for giving us a beautiful church for Gujarat Church. Special thanks to Rev. Fr. Issac (Parish priest of Dakor) and Rev. Fr. Alex

After a long wait of many years, Gujarat’s Dakor can finally boast of a proper place of worship for its Catholic faithful. On November 8, 2015, the “Christ the King” Church was
consecrated by His Grace Archbishop Thomas Macwan of the Gandhinagar Diocese, in the presence of nearly 1,500 people. Built by the Salesians of Don Bosco and located within their Dakor campus, the church building is the culmination of ceaseless efforts by the Salesian community. They were determined that the faithful in the area, whom the Salesians had ministered to for over 35 years, should have more than a school hall in which to worship the Lord.

The octagonal structure, built on stilts because of the propensity of flooding in the area during the monsoons, can be spotted from afar thanks to a magnificent statue of Christ the King placed at the top of the building.

The beautiful church was erected and consecrated barely one year after the foundation stone was laid, thanks to the passion and hard work of scores of people including the architect, the civil contractor, construction workers, carpenters, electricians, painters, interior designers and artisans. And of course, nothing would have been possible without the generous support of financial benefactors from India and around the world.

The morning of November 8 saw the residents of two adjoining Salesian compounds - the religious priests, brothers and nuns and their boarding schools’ wards - awake to a day of much excitement and anticipation. Even though they had not had much sleep the previous night thanks to rehearsals and last minute preparations, everyone was buzzing with energy. The members of the organising committees also arrived early and everyone went about their tasks with gusto.

Guests from outstation started arriving in the morning itself and visitors from around Gujarat joined them in large numbers as the function began at 14:30. The whole place was a riot of colour as men, women and children turned out in their festive best. Added to that was the colour from the decorated outdoor makeshift cloth-covered hall and the floral arrangements. Devotional music was broadcast and the atmosphere was set for a day of celebration.

First there was a procession to the school ground. It was led by gaily dressed women in traditional Gujarati attire, bearing pots adorned with marigolds and leaves. They were followed by the altar servers and volunteers holding a statue of a seated Christ the King which had been blessed by the archbishop. Then, there came a great many priests and the main celebrants along with the archbishop. Other religious participants and the lay people followed them to the ground. Here, the parishioners of Christ the King Church and invitees from other parishes in the Ahmedabad diocese performed the traditional Gujarati dance ‘garba’. It started out with a few people and gradually swelled into a large circle. It was a beautiful sight. No-one needed an invitation to join. They were dancing with joy, in step with each other.

The procession then resumed and headed to the main celebration area, to the makeshift hall outside the church building. There, on the landing between the steps leading to the church, Archbishop Macwan celebrated mass and consecrated the church. He cut the ribbon and opened the doors of the church. Later, the altar, which was placed outside the church, was blessed with incense and anointed with holy oil and then the walls of the church were also incensed and anointed.

When mass was over, the celebrants placed the consecrated hosts in the tabernacle for the very first time and the blessed altar was also taken into the church. And then the crowds moved to see the interior of the church, leaving their footwear outside as is the Indian tradition in places of worship. It was a joyful scene. People looked about in awe at the beautiful interiors – the stained glass over the windows and in the ceiling, the textured wall of the sanctuary, the Risen Christ on the Cross, the aesthetic tabernacle, baptismal font, lectern and altar, the beautiful ‘Indian’ Holy Family and Don Bosco statues. They clicked photos everywhere and congratulated their priests.

This was followed by a felicitation of the priests, artisans and workers, whosework had made the church structure a reality. And then, after the sun had set and the stars started to adorn the night sky, the children of the boys’ and girls’ boarding schools put up a splendid musical play depicting Jesus’ works of preaching and healing in his public ministry. It was an absolute treat to watch them act, sing and dance to lovely Gujarati singing by a children’s choir.

Archbishop Thomas Macwan described the church as a ‘masterpiece’, and Salesian Mumbai Vice-Provincial Fr Savio Silveria said it was a gift from God. Both congratulated the Salesian community of Dakor, particularly Fr Alex Fernandes, the previous parish priest, and Fr Isaac Arackaparambil, the present parish priest, for their vision, determination and hard work to build the Church.

Archbishop Macwan told the gathering to remember that the church was named after Christ the King who said that he had not come to be served, but to serve; and he called upon the faithful to follow the same.

Finally, everyone participated in a fellowship meal, and then dispersed.

POTA – New WAYS of living and loving!

POTA – New WAYS of living and loving!

The moment we hear someone pronouncing a word POTA we immediately remember in our Indian context a place called Potta in Kerala where persons from various walks of life throng for a spiritual renewal at the Divine Retreat Centre managed by the Religious Priests of Vincentian Congregation under Irinjalakuda diocese. A few years back as the Parish Priest of Unteshwari when I went to Kerala to visit the houses of our migrant Catholics of our Parish, I too visited the centre and witnessed how people devoutly attending such a renewal programme according to the choice of their languages. This year, in the month of June 2015, five of our youth too participated in such a soul searching spiritual programme in order to get gripped with Jesus our Master! Well, I was well pleased to listen to them on their arrival at our Unteshwari. I normally appreciate and promote our faithful to participate in any such spiritual inward journey programme anywhere, especially to go and attend at least once in their life time at this centre and to encounter the persons and places of such “God’s own country” and to move forward gradually to know, love and follow Jesus MORE fervently in their life journey. Such orientations are at work in our Parish to the local and migrant Catholics and Catechumens for I am ordained and sent as a missionary to bloom where I am planted and to become a Pastor for All.
Let me state now here the Faith story of my Rejoicing Mission at Unteshwari while we the Religious persons celebrate this year as the Year of Consecrated Life.

A Call and Gift to Serve

It was last July 2014 when I was chosen from India to participate at Celje, Slovenia for 8 days in the 6th Frater Intercontinental meeting by Fraternidad Cristiana Intercontinental de Personas con Discapacidad (Frater), as one of the intercontinental committee members from Asia (other two from China and Taiwan). By this, I was to serve as an advisor and companion in this intercontinental forum and accepted humbly as God’s grace received on this lowly servant.
It is worth mentioning at this moment about this Frater organization. It is an international, private, faith-based association under the approval of Pontifical Council of Laity since 1995. As a Christian movement, it is made up of, and managed by people with disabilities who have taken control of their lives, struggle to live in dignity, and accept to live together as brothers and sisters, in recognition of each other’s differences.  It welcomes everyone, without distinction, in a spirit of ecumenical and missionary openness. People without disabilities too join Frater once they accept and embrace the message of it. As a requirement to participate in this meeting, I had taken along with me Mr. Senma Jesangbhai Mulabhai, a physically challenged person who serves with us on contract basis as students counsellor in our Inclusive Education for Disabled Children (IEDC) scheme.

Having experienced the presence and participation of myself in such an intercontinental meeting, Mrs. Polona, one of the organizing committee members from Slovenia and the Coordinator of the POTA Programme approached me and appreciated me with the title - “the charming Indian” and made an appeal to build an International Cooperation with us Jesuits here in India through their POTA Programme of Slovenia.  Thus, the actualization of such a programme through the Gujarat Jesuits run disabled-friendly centre Unteshwari Sammilitalayam is to be seen as the fruit of my Slovenia visit! In this context let me present the meaning, methodology and implementation of such an exchange programme in order to appreciate the spirit of such Slovenian youth’s inclusion and insertion in our Indian context.

Meaning and Methodology of POTA Programme

The Slovenian word POTA means WAYS in English. The POTA Programme was started in the year 2006 by the Slovenian Jesuits as one of their Youth Movement programme under MIC - Mladinsko Informacijski Center (Youth Information Centre) at Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, to show their youth the new WAYS of living and loving in various developing countries of the world. Every year about 80 young volunteers leave their European homes by their own expenses to about nine nations and reach out to serve all kinds of humans at their door steps in different difficult situations and conditions.

The overall aims of this programme are three fold –
      I.   To encourage international development cooperation and aid contribution to the developing countries.

II.        To increase and encourage intercultural exchange among the youth.
III.        To raise awareness among the youth on global co-responsibility, solidarity and human rights.

POTA at Unteshwari - Kadi

From 10th – 24th July  (1 male and 6 females) and 7th – 21st August (8 females) Unteshwari was filled with such fifteen generous and committed youngsters (age between 19 – 25) who indeed made a difference in their pre-arranged working spots like hospital, schools, aged home and rehabilitation centres in Kadi Block. Mornings were spent in the Religious (Madhurya Bhuvan, Sandhya Vishram and Unteshwari)  and Private (Springdale school and Bhagyoday hospital)  institutions with service-based activities, whereas evenings were spent in encountering the ground reality of the inclusive involvement  of the Unteshwari Mission in the villages and towns of this region. Besides, the planned guided tours to the various Christian neighbourhood missions and other faith centres have opened their minds and hearts to experience how God is operative in His mission through various missionaries and persons of good will. Their presence and participation in our celebration of life and liturgy have enthused in fact mutually the new ways of Christian living and loving here and there. Yes. In this way, the POTA mission has brought in a different way meaningfully the international cooperation and interprovincial collaboration true to the spirit of the 35th General Congregation of the Jesuits! All for His greater glory!

God’s Colourful Images

In the below placed two pictures we see the beautiful and colourful Slovenian images, who are basically the University students of various faculties, they, without making any fuss, inserted themselves joyfully within our WAY of life by respecting and accepting the cultural nuances of the North Gujarat Mission. Indeed, the seven persons during the seventh month (July) and the eight persons during the eighth month (August) have been our precious gifts who transmitted the great human values like simplicity and solidarity with all in the diverse communities of our Kadi block in Mehsana district. Wherever they lived and moved, and whenever they served and encountered persons in the villages and towns, spontaneously both the groups exchanged smiles and it was very obvious to have the PHOTO programme within the POTA programme! Each wanted to capture images of each other! Memorable moments of positive energy building exercises which cannot be easily forgotten!

Group I: Seven from Heaven!

From Left to Right: Girish (Host); Uršula Vratuša Globočnik (Journalism) ; Veronika Krafogel (Nursing); Jerneja Pirc (Social Pedagogy; captain); Valentina Pevec (Medicine); Rok Pogačnik (Seminarian – 1st year of theology ); Klara Malovrh (KG Teaching); Eva Podbregar (Medicine).

Group II: Eight of God’s precious Sight!
From Left to Right: Girish (Host); Lija Gantar (Literature & Japanology); Kristina Pezdirc (Economics); Teja Sulejmanovič (Secondary Teaching); Petra Hribar (Nursing; Captain); Katja Ravnikar (Psychology); Neja Hrovat (Photography & Designing); Anja Stanič (Social Pedagogy); Maša Razdevšek (Pharmacy).

Conclusion
When most of the students of Europe wait for their summer holidays to enjoy themselves in parks, bars and beaches, these 15 pearls decided with their own conscience to spend meaningfully their summer vacation as volunteers for a month in India. Blessed be their melting hearts and their motivating parents!

Each group was with us for 15 days and then left for Kolkatta to serve in the Blessed Mother Teresa Homes and in a School managed by a Slovenian lady Mrs. Mojca. While being with us here in Gujarat both the groups were specially taken to Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati, Ahmedabad. On their return they were moved by the visit of the Ashram and they fondly remembered the writing on the wall in the Ashram: “My life is my message – Gandhi”. While they remember the words of our Gandhi Bapu, the Father of our Nation, do we see something unique in these young minds the inner freedom to choose the new WAYS of living and loving in our Indian context? Yes. Truly their life too, as we encountered, has become a message to all of us in our region. At this moment, though they are not physically with us here at Unteshwari, our humble prayer for them is: May God continue to bless them wherever they are and go, and may they continue to walk ALWAYS in His WAYS! Amen.

Salaam to our dear Dr. Abdul Kalam!

Salaam to our dear Dr. Abdul Kalam!
Having heard about the fall during his presentation and death at Bethany hospital in Shillong of our dear former President of India Dr. Abdul Kalam I just thanked God for the precious gift of him to the humanity at large. Truly he was a member of a world family ideal – Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam by which he embraced and enhanced all. Sincerely he was a barrier free man of our modern Republic India!

As soon as Dr. Abdul Kalam died, many started writing tributes. Everyone has expressed about him from his/her perspective based on his/her personal or institutional experiences. It has been worth reading and watching about him from varies media. One thing is clear from the expressed impressions that he continually stands even today as a symbol of integral person of our freed India!

Dr. Abdul Kalam is dead and buried. He is no more with us physically. But he is very much alive especially in the Ignited Minds of our Indian brethren. Those who positively allowed themselves to be enveloped by his progressive thinking continue to make him alive in the midst of the confused and conflicted India! Yes. Our India needs a true and a clean change. In this context of our Indian nation, in order to become a change maker or to make a difference, it is worth following the footsteps of our great personalities – ‘mahatmas’ of our Nation like Gandhi Bapu, Mother Teresa and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam!

All these three noble persons have played in some way a vital role in shaping up my personality. Because of Gandhi I got attracted to become a missionary in his land of Gujarat and to share my Faith experience of Jesus in the midst of all those who hunger and thirst for God. It was in this Gujarat while being a student of theology at Premal Jyoti in Ahmedabad, along with my companions, I got the opportunity to have the darshan and kiss the hands of our Blessed Mother Teresa and to listen to her whispered words – “Brother, Become a holy Priest”! Again, in this same Gujarat I got the opportunity to be blessed by Dr. Abdul Kalam. When and How?

Well, I never ever dreamt that I would one day meet Dr. Kalam. But, it all happened. It was exactly a year back in 2014 when I was selected from India as one of the three representatives from Asian continent by Frater Intercontinental for Persons with Disabilities to participate as a Core-committee member in Slovenia – Europe, Mr. Amrut Patel, the Deputy Collector (Protocol) of Ahmedabad and the supportive friend of our Unteshwari Mission called me over my mobile at 11.30 am – “Father, I want you to meet Dr. Abdul Kalam and get his blessings since you are going to represent India soon in Europe. I have acquired already the necessary permission. So, leave at once and come to the New Circuit House at Shahibaug, Ahmedabad. Here I’ll wait for you”. Sincerely I was humbled by this call and finally after much thought I left for Ahmedabad. While driving I did experience the usual traffic commotion at Hansol area. Finally I reached the spot and I was well received by Mr. Amrutbhai. He briefed me of the visit and then he said, “Father, Dr. Abdul Kalam says that he would meet you at the VIP lounge of the domestic airport. So, you leave your vehicle here and join us in one of the vehicles of the VIPs”. So, at 2.00pm we all left for the airport. There were 15 vehicles with full security system moved from the New Circuit House. I was asked to travel alone in a vehicle with four policemen. Oh, what a memorable experience it was to travel in this way on a traffic-free road in Ahmedabad!

As we reached the airport Dr. Abdul Kalam and I said hello to each other and at once he straight went to the VIP lounge. There I was called to meet him. In our meeting I introduced myself as a Jesuit Priest serving in Gujarat. Immediately he smiled and greeted me with remarkable reverence. At once he acknowledged, “Father, I was a student of your Trichy St. Joseph’s college, Tamil Nadu. I cannot forget the service rendered by your Jesuit Fathers to me”. Then attentively he listened to me and finally he said, “I am very glad that you are chosen to represent India in Europe. I am proud of you. Make a difference in the lives of ALL people. My best wishes for you Father”. Then, devoutly I bowed my head before him and received his blessing. This was a moment of grace which I can never forget!

We were together for 15 minutes in that lounge. While being with him I could feel the warmth and the genuine interest to listen to me and speak about how we need to be at the side of the needy persons. His encouraging words to commit for the Nation building and international collaboration were remarkable. Though it was a short encounter, I did experience the zealous spirit and the single mindedness in his spoken words. I could experience the simplicity and humility in his gestures. Indeed it was a grace-filled moment for me to sit at his side and to vibrate with him in Igniting Minds of the young in India. My sincere pranam and salaam to our dear late Dr. Abdul Kalam for his availability and blessings! Thanks to Mr. Amrut Patel for providing such an opportunity to meet such an eminent personality of our nation who was lovingly called as “People’s President”. May the Mission of Igniting Minds of the young be continued through every Father and Sister in collaboration with the lay leaders of our Indian Church, particularly in Gujarat and let the young minds of our growing Gujarat encounter each of us as People’s Pastor and Poor’s Pastor who can sit at their side and smell the context! May the flame of Kalam continue to shine in us to make India a home for all citizens of India to live and move without fear! Let today the MAKE IN INDIA mission be inspired by such an inclusive life style of Dr. Abdul Kalam! To such a person my sincere salaam!

Feast of St. John Vianney

On August 4, the Church celebrates the feast day of St. John Vianney, patron of priests.

John Vianney, also known as the Holy Curé de Ars, was born May 8, 1786 in Dardilly, near Lyon, France to a family of farmers. He was ordained a priest in 1815 and became curate in Ecully. He was then sent to the remote French community of Ars in 1818 to be a parish priest.

Upon his arrival, the priest immediately began praying and working for the conversion of his parishioners. Although he saw himself as unworthy of his mission as pastor, he allowed himself to be consumed by the love of God as he served the people.

Vianney slowly helped to revive the community’s faith through both his prayers and the witness of his lifestyle. He gave powerful homilies on the mercy and love of God, and it is said that even staunch sinners were converted upon hearing him. In addition, he restored his church, formed an orphanage, “La Providence,” and cared for the poor.

His reputation as a confessor grew rapidly, and pilgrims traveled from all over France to come to him in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Firmly committed to the conversion of the people, he would spend up to 16 hours a day in the confessional.

Plagued by many trials and besieged by the devil, the St. John Vianney remained firm in his faith, and lived a life of devotion to God. Dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament, he spent much time in prayer and practiced much mortification. He lived on little food and sleep, while working without rest in unfailing humility, gentleness, patience and cheerfulness, until he was well into his 70s.

John Vianney died on August 4, 1859. Over 1,000 people attended his funeral, including the bishop and priests of the diocese, who already viewed his life as a model of priestly holiness.

The Holy Curé of Ars was canonized by Pope Pius XI in 1925. He is the patron of priests. Over 450,000 pilgrims travel to Ars every year in remembrance of his holy life.

In 2009, Pope Benedict XVI, commemorating the 150th anniversary of St. John Vianney’s death, declared the Year for Priests. The Pope wrote a Letter to Clergy, encouraging all priests to look to the Curé of Ars as an example of dedication to one’s priestly calling.

Sr. Natividad Pastor (Nati as she is loving called) set her feet in India in 1961 to serve the poor and specially the lepers in the leprosy hospital of Junagadh run by the Government. By profession she is a doctor. She was very active, enthusiastic and energetic. She used to go to the leprosy hospital by cycle. She not only dressed the patients their wounds, removed even the worms but she had been very kind, loving towards the patients. She worked with utter dedication and commitment.

In 1966 Nati was transferred to a new mission along with two more sisters to a remote place called Dediapada – South Gujarat. There the sisters opened the dispensary to cater to the needs of poor adivasi people. Sr. Nati attended the sick with all kinds of sickness including T.B and the people got cured by the loving touch of her hands. Once she had stitched the open skull of a little girl devoured by the tiger and the surgery she performed saved the life of little girl. Day by day the number of patients increased because of Sr.Nati’s dedicated service. She was very kind, patient, loving and at the same time stern towards the patients if they do not follow strictly the treatment given by her. Many Priests and nuns who are cured by her are very grateful to her. With that Nati’s fame spread far and wide.

After 26 years of dedicated service in Dediapada Nati was transferred to Sagbara mission. Till recently she had been active in her apostolate of serving the sick and the poor. Gradually her health began to deteriorate and the eye sight diminished due to the Retina problem. It cost her much not to be in the dispensary which was a life stream in her life. But she accepted the will of God. She could not read anything but she dedicated her more time in prayer to be with the Lord. She is particular to do her own work and never give trouble to the sisters to do anything extra work for her.

Nati loved to be in the community in the company of the sisters. One of the drawbacks was she could not speak correctly neither English nor Gujarati. But all these years in her service to the poor and the sick Nati managed to communicate through the language of love.

We are very grateful to Sr. Nati for all that she had been and she is. May God bless her with good health.

Towards a collective reflection - José Antonio Pagola

Fifteenth Sunday of the Year B – 12 July 2015
Towards a collective reflection
José Antonio Pagola

Jesus does not send his disciples without careful thought. To collaborate in his Project of the kingdom of God and prolong his mission, a life style has to be observed. If not, they will be able to do many things, but they will not bring his spirit into the world. Mark reminds us of some of the recommendations of Jesus.

In the first place, who are they to act in the name of Jesus? What kind of authority do they have? According to Mark, on sending them, he “gives them authority over unclean spirits.” He does not give them power over people they happen to meet along the way. Neither has he used his power to rule but in order to heal.

As always, Jesus is thinking of a more healthy world, free of malign forces that enslave and dehumanize human beings. His disciples will introduce his healing power among peoples. They will open paths in society, not by exercising power over people, but by humanizing their lives, alleviating the suffering of people, promoting the growth of freedom and fraternity.

They will take with them only a “walking stick” and “sandals”. Jesus thinks of them as pilgrims. Always on the way. Not tied to anything, nor to anyone, taking along only what’s indispensable, with the agility Jesus had to be present wherever someone needed him. The staff of Jesus is not to rule, but to help him walk.

They will have with them no bread, no beggar’s bag, no money . They must not be obsessed with their own security. They have with them something more important: the Spirit of Jesus, his Word, and his Authority to humanize the lives of people. Strangely, Jesus is not thinking of what they have to take along to be effective, but in what they do not have to have lest one day they forget the poor and are surrounded by their own prosperity.

Neither should they take along a spare tunic. They will dress with the simplicity of the poor. They will not dress in sacred vestments like the ones the priests of the Temple wear. Neither will they dress like John the Baptist in the solitude of the desert. They will be prophets in the midst of people. Their lives will be a sign of the closeness of God to all, above all, to those most in need.

This society needs as never before the impact of men and women who know to live with little or nothing; believers who can prove that happiness does not lie in accumulating goods.

Those who live a simple life style and in generous solidarity are those who today best preach the conversión our society most needs.

Will we ever one day dare to make in the heart of the church a collective examination to allow ourselves to be enlightened by Jesus and to see how we have continued to stray from his spirit, almost without noticing it?

In 1995 a Leadership Seminar was started for 4 of Don Bosco rural schools. Namely; Kawant, Chhotaudepur, Narukot and Dakor.

It was a simple dream of many of the Don Bosco Fathers - Salesians . Everyone felt that the Tribal students need to be inspired for Leadership. So with this dream a Leadership Seminar was started in 1995. Of course, on the way it has met with numerous difficulties. During our interview with the director of Amrutdhara Rev. Fr. Alex SDB said, "I am happy to say that today it has reached to some standard. In between we did have a few other schools joining us. But not very regular and steady. In spite of all ups and downs the Leadership Seminar continued. Of all the years my experience of this year was the best. To tell you frankly, St. Anne’s school Waghodia made all the difference. This was the first time that they participated and to the full strength."

Fr. Alex is also planing to conduct the vibrant Leadership Training in different parishes of Gujarat during this year.

This year’s participation maximum. The students enjoyed to the full. They were taught to be a better leader for the school, for the society and for the nation. Rev. Fr. Mayank Parmar SDB and Mr. Pravin -Amrutdhara admin encouraged the students with leadership games, music and talks in their sessions.

The spirit of participation was praise worthy. There was a smile of joy and satisfaction on each ones face as they left the campus. A word of sincere thanks to all who made this day a total success. Praise be to God!

Leadership Training will lead the youth for the better world tomorrow

‘’Samelan’’ for widows by Dominican Sisters - Balasinor

A Ray of Hope

Women in our society are treated as second class citizens and if she is a widow she has no identity or dignity as such. She is treated, most of the time, as an object.

26th July was indeed a great day in the history of Matru Chhaya, Balasinor, where Dominican Sisters organized one day ‘’Samelan’’ for widows. 160 widows from 20 villages of Balasinor Taluka, gathered in the campus of Matru Chhaya. The number itself communicated that they wish to have their identity and dignity.

Ms Kripaben Patel was the Chief Guest, an Executive Manager in Jewelry Designing. Ms Kripaben spoke to the widows about the sanitation and how to keep their own surrounding clean. Ms Manasiben was the guest of Honour. She encouraged the young and middle aged widow to maintain their dignity by living a moral life.

Mamlatdar of Balasinor Shri Hirabhai Vanker spoke to all widows about the government schemes and how to avail them. Adv. Sr. Manjula Tuscano spoke to them about their human and fundamental rights and motivated them to get united so that they can fight all together for their own rights.

In the afternoon, the post lunch session medical camp was conducted for them. Dr. Bharat as well as nurses from government hospital helped the sisters to have this camp. In this camp they were given information about different disease and how to take precaution. They even talked about different medical benefits they can avail to different schemes.

Dominican Sisters have begun a movement for widows since last year. Here the widows get the opportunity to come on one platform and unitedly fight for their own rights and dignity.

At the end of the ‘Samelan’ Adv. Manjula Tuscano thanked all the dignitaries on the dais. She thanked all the women who participated in the ‘Samelan’. Sr. Manjula expressed her gratitude to all those who helped her during this ‘Samelan’. She thanked the Dominican sisters for their constant support.
