તા. ૨૬-૧૧-૨૦૧૭ ના રોજ કોમ્યુનિટી હોલ ગામડી - આણંદ ખાતે 'દૂત' નો વાર્ષિક સ્નેહ મિલન કાર્યક્રમ યોજાયો હતો જેમા શ્રી પોલ મેકવાનને (હાલ કેનેડા) વર્ષ ૨૦૧૫ના સર્વોત્તમ લેખક તરીકે અને શ્રી જેરોમ ઝિન્ટોને (અમદાવાદ) વર્ષ ૨૦૧૬ના સર્વોત્તમ સ્વયં સેવક તરીકે ફાધર એસ્પિતાર્તે રૌપ્ય ચંદ્રક અર્પણ કરવામાં આવ્યા. આ ઉપરાંત કવિ, લેખક અને સ્વયં સેવક સાથે 'દૂત' ના પ્રચાર પ્રસાર માટે વિચાર વિમર્શ કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. આ પ્રસંગે 'દૂત'ના સંચાલકશ્રી, તંત્રી મંડળના સભ્યો અને દૂતના ચાહકો ઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા હતા.

રેવ. ફાધર જ્યોર્જ છગનનું અવસાન આજે તા. ૧૮-૧૧-૨૦૧૭ ના રોજ ઝરોલીમાં (વાપી) થયું છે. તેમનો જન્મ તા ૨૩-૦૪-૧૯૨૦ માં થયો હતો અને તેમને પુરોહિત દીક્ષા તા.૦૫-૧૨-૧૯૫૩માં મળી હતી તેઓ ૯૮ વર્ષીય ગુજરાતી મિશનરી હતા. સદ્દગતની દફનવિધિ આજે સાંજે ૫ કલાકે કેથોલિક ચર્ચ - ઝરોલીમાં રાખવામાં આવેલ છે

Rev. Fr. George Chhagan died today morning (18-11-2017) in Zaroli near Vapi. He was 98 years old and a great Gujarati Missionary. The funeral service will be held at Catholic Church, Zaroli at 5:00 pm today.

This morning at Gandhinagar in Gujarat our Salesian Priest Fr. George Miranda who is the Director of our Institution called Snehalaya which ministers to the YOUNG AT RISK, along with his Staff, received the State Award for Best Practices for Children from the Ministry of Social Justice. The cabinet minster of social justice gave the award.

CONGRATS to Fr. George Miranda and his team. It is indeed an acknowledgment of his leadership and a proof of the relevance and authenticity of the Salesian System of Education.

He and his team have done Don Bosco and all of us proud. I'm sure the children and youth under his care are in safe and nurturing hands.

It is great that the government recognises and acknowledges this Missionary run venture.

Br. Mathew Fernandes SJ died on 18-07-2017

Br. Mathew Fernandes SJ (GUJ ), 70 years old /  49 years in the Society of Jesus, passed away on 18 July, 2017 at 05.45 PM in Our Lady of Pillar Hospital, Vadodara, Gujarat.  He was suffering from cancer.

Funeral will be held on 19 July at 03.30 P.M. in Rosary Cathedral, Vadodara.

Br. Mathew Fernandes was born on 25 September, 1946, Radhanpur, Gujarat.  He entered the Society of Jesus on 30 July, 1967, Sadhana Bhavan, Mount Abu - Rajasthan. He pronounced his Final Vows on 20 November, 1982.

"Dear Brother Fernandes,

"It is with sentiments of genuine joy that I congratulate you as you complete fifty golden years in

the Society of Jesus into which the Lord has called us in His boundless mercy. I join your Jesuit companions, family members and friends in singing the praise of the Lord as you recall the countless blessings you have received throughout your life in the Society of Jesus.

"Born in a family steeped in solid Christian faith, you were privileged to grow in an ambience

animated by your parents' shining example of truly selfless lives and imbibed from them some aspects of their deep commitment and dedication to God.

"You rightly see your call from the Lord to join the Society in the light of a mystery, but drawn and guided by the exemplary lives of Jesuits both priests and brothers. Endowed with sterling qualities of head and heart, you exerted yourself to bring the best out of you in order to benefit those whom you were called to serve....

"A quick look at your biodata reveals the major areas around which your life and ministry in the

Society moved. By all accounts, you honed your expertise as an excellent teacher in the schools and a host of strategies, skills and sleight of hand with cards you had developed, helped you to be innovative in securing and retaining the attention of your young pupils....

"I understand that a special course you had done in Catering and Hotel Management stood you in

good stead in experimenting with great ease and creativity to offer some much-appreciated delicacies at the table, particularly on festive occasions. You took meticulous care to ensure that the house under your baton as Minister remained tidy and organized....you were impeccably respectful and courteous in your dealings with your Jesuit companions and lay collaborators....

Gujarat United Christian Forum met the GSSTB executive president, Nitin Pethani

The Christian community in Gujarat has threatened to launch a state-wide agitation and also to take legal recourse if Gujarat State School Textbook Board(GSSTB) fails to withdraw the controversial class IX Hindi (second language) textbook in two days. In one chapter of the textbook, the adjective 'hevaan', meaning demon, is used before the name of Jesus Christ. This came into public notice on June 8.

A six-member group from the Gujarat United Christian Forum for Human Rights(GUCFHR), led by Archbishop Thomas Macwan, met the GSSTB executive president, Nitin Pethani, on Wednesday. The group asked Pethani why, despite three representations by the Christian body, the GSSTB is yet to take action or even tender a public apology for the error.

GUCFHR spokesperson Fr Vinayak Jhadav told TOI: "On June 13, vide a memorandum, we had demanded that GSSTB tender a public apology for the controversial error, which has hurt Christian sentiments. The second demand was to initiate, within 10 days, the process of replacing the textbook that had the error. We also informed the GSSTB that even the context of the sentence in which the word 'hevaan' appears is wrong," Fr Jhadav said

"The third demand was for taking stringent action against government officials and those responsible for proof-reading the texts," Fr Jadhav said.

Pethani, on the other hand, claimed that GUCFGHR was shown the report which has resolved to replace the word 'hevaan' with 'bhagwan' and an errata is to be published in an upcoming edition of 'Sikshan-Parikshan' magazine.

"The DTP operator has been fired for now," Pethani said. "Whether to blacklist experts that were engaged for writing the textbooks is a matter for a special committee of experts."

Pethani also told TOI that GSSTB had already apologized for the error, in the media.

કાર્ડિનલ ઈવાન ડાયસ ૮૧ વર્ષે રોમમાં સ્વર્ગે સિધાવ્યા. તેમનો જન્મ ૧૪-એપ્રિલ-૧૯૩૬ માં બાંદ્રા-મુંબઈમાં થયો હતો. સેમિનરીમાં તાલીમ લીધા બાદ તેમણે પુરોહિત દીક્ષા ૦૮-૧૨-૧૯૫૮માં લીધી હતી. ૧૯૯૬માં ૧૦ વર્ષ સુધી મુંબઈના મહાધર્માધ્યક્ષ હતા. પોપ જોન પોલ બીજા દ્વારા તેમને ૨૦૦૧ માં કાર્ડિનલ બનાવવામાં આવ્યા હતા

આજે ૧૩-મે-૨૦૧૭ રાવડાપુરામાં નવા ચર્ચનું ઉદ્ધઘાટન માનનીય મહાધર્માધ્યક્ષ થોમસ મેકવાને આશીર્વાદ આપી અને પીઢ મિશનરી રેવ. ફા પરીઝાના હસ્તે રીબીન કાપી ધર્મજનો માટે દેવળ ખુલ્લું મુકવામાં આવ્યું હતું.

રાવળાપુરા સેન્ટ ફ્રાન્સિસ ઝેવિયર ચર્ચ ગામડી-આણંદ તાબામાં આવેલ છે. રાવડાપુરામાંથી ગુજરાતની ધર્મસભાને મોટી સંખ્યામાં પ્રભુના તેડાં મળેલા છે.

આજે અહીં સુંદર દેવળ ધર્મજનો માટે ખુલ્લું મુકવામાં આવ્યું છે , આ માટે રાવડાપુરાના સર્વે ધર્મજનોને ખુબજ અભિનંદન પાઠવા રહ્યા . ત્યાંના ધર્મપ્રેમી વડીલો, યુવા પેઢી રાત દિવસ એક કરી દાન ઉઘરાવી પોતાના અને પોતાની આવનારી પેઢી માટે આ પવિત્ર સ્થાન ઉભું કર્યું છે.

અહીંના સભા પુરોહિત રેવ, ફા. મેક્સિમ ના પડદા પાછળ રહી રાવડાપુરાની ધર્મસભાને જે ટેકો આપ્યો હતો તે અહીં નજરે દેખાતો હતો.

આ પ્રસંગે રાવડાપુરાના પણ દૂર રહેતા દીકરા દીકરીઓ આ શુભ પ્રસંગમાં હાજર રહેવા ઉમટીયા હતા. ઉદ્ધાટન સમયે રેવ ફા જેરી સિકવેરા, પીઢ મિશનરી રેવ. બ્રધર એબ્રીલ , રેવ. ફા આલબર્ટ દેલગાડૉ (પૂર્વ સભાપુરોહિત) રેવ. ફા અનિલ સેવરીન (રાવળાપુરાની ધર્મસભાના પૂર્વ ગોવાળ) તથા મોટી સંખ્યામાં પુરોહિતગણ અને સાધ્વીગણ હાજરથી આ સમગ્ર કાર્યક્રમને રંગત ભર્યો બની રહ્યો હતો.
