60 years of The Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Rosary

60 years of Missionary Service.

The Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Rosary, celebrated the 60 years of their presence in India on 22nd February, 2015 at Gomtipur, Ahmedabad.

The 13th century saw a great personality and a seeker of Truth in the person of St. Dominic De Guzman. Following in his footsteps a Dominican Bishop Msgr. Ramon Zubieta O.P. entered Peruvian jungles to spread the Good News. Woman is the heart of the family; keeping this in mind he invited sisters in the jungles. Blessed Mother Ascension Nicol Goni answered this call at the age of 45 entering the Peruvian jungles in the year 1915. They founded the congregation of Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Rosary in the year 1918.

The sisters were at the service. Now it was a turn of India. Five Spanish sisters came to India to spread the Good News in the year 1954. They came to Gomtipur in Ahmedabad which is known as St. Mary’s Community. Later as the years passed answering the needs of the hour, Sisters spread to the various parts of India. The sisters thanked God along with people in Gomptipur on 22nd February 2015. Archbishop, Stanislaus Fernandes and Bishop Thomas Macwan celebrated the Holy Eucharist. Novice Briska pronounced her temporal vows to God during the celebration. Many sisters and dignitaries were felicitated after the Eucharist. The celebration concluded with an agape.
