22-06-40 : Born as first child to Timothy & Martha at Karamsad.

15-08-40: Baptised as John (Baptist) by Fr. Charles Gomes at Nauli.

June 1945 : Began School at St. Joseph – Mirzapur – Ahmedabad.

       From 1st to 6th stds. 1945 to 1951 Gujarati medium

June 1952 : Std. VII at St. Joseph”s Gomtipur, Ahmedabad.

April to June 1953 : At St. Mary’s Mt. Abu. English medium Std. IV

To be able to get admission at St. Xavier’s Ahd. I was informed by my Dad that inorder to get admission at St. Xavier’s in English medium I had to come from another state (Rajasthan) as English was not my mother tongue!

June 1953 : I got admitted at St. Xavier’s school Mirzapur, Ahmedabad in std. IV. After first exams got promoted toV std.  

Till VIII std. I was at Mizapur.

1956-57 std. VIII

1957-58 std. IX  shifted to Loyola Hall

1958-59 std. X

1959-60 std. XI finished SSC at Loyola Hall

19 June left home Ahd. For Vinayalaya Bombay to join the Society of Jesus.

20th June  1960  Joined SJ at Vinay Bombay.

21st June 1962  First vows at Vinay Bombay

June 1962 to May 1963 : Juniorate at Vinay Bombay

June 1963 to March 1966 : Philosophy studies at De Nobili College Pune.

Minor Orders at Pune 8th-9th Jan 1966.

April 1966 to June 1967 : Regency at Loyola Hall Ahd.

June 1967 to May 1968 : Language studies (Gujarati) at Newman Hall Ahd.

May 28 1968 to Dec. 27th 1971 : Theology at St. Mary’s College Kuseong, Dt. Darjeeling, West Bengal.

March 24-25  1971 Ordained priest by Bishop Ignatius D’Souza at Mt. Carmel Cathedral, Ahmedabad. May 1971 went back to Kurseong to do my fourth year and give comprehensive exams. Nov.-Dec. 1971 worked at refugee camps during the war between India and Pak to free BanglaDesh.

15th Jan 1972 my exams were taken at Newman Hall.

17th Feb. 1972 appointed as Asst. PP to Cambay mission.

15th Sept 1975 went to Dindigul for my tertianship.

17th March 1976 back to Cambay

19th May 1976 appointed to St. Xavier’s College to join the team of BSC .

14th Nov. 1976 took my final vows at College chapel.

Aug to Oct. 1977 went with Xavier Manjooran to do DELTA course at Nairobi Kenya.

I was working in Bhal with BSC till June 1979.

24th June 1979 I was appointed as PP at St. Joseph’s Baroda.

7th June 1991 left Baroda for Cambay.

9th June 1991 appointed PP at Cambay.

7th June 1992 appointed Asst. PP at Cambay.

5th June 1993 appointed Minister at Newman Hall.

5th June 1994 appointed PP at Vadtal

23rd. Sept 1995 left for UK to do a Counseling Course at St Anselm, Cliftonville, Edgar Road, Kent. London Till 13th June 1996

13th June to 25th June at Leinach, Germany, my friend Karin’s village.

26th. June 1996 back to Newman Hall Ahd.

21st July 1996 appointed to Aashadeep at Vidyanagar as coordinator of Lay Formation. My main job was to reconcile the Director and the staff of Aashadeep.

9th June 1997 was appointed as Asst. PP at Bhiloda.

Appointed as PP at Vyara. Left Bhiloda on 14th June and took over as PP of Vyara on 15th June 1998. Appointed also as superior of Vyara n Mandal.

In 2001 managed to get permission to open primary school at Vyara. May 15th 2001 was appointed manager of the newly opened St. Xavier’s school at Vyara. Tony Britto took over as PP. pf Vyara.

Appointed as Minister and Counselor at Nagra (Khambhat) Spiritual Center. Arrived at Nagra on 27th May 2002.

Appointed Superior of Khambhat, Varasada and Nagra community 31st July 2003.

15th Oct. 2007 appointed as PP of Matar. Civiac who was PP became my Asst.

April – May 2008 thrice I became unconscious.

RKF = Renal Kidney Failure was detected.

15th June Matar parish was handed over to the diocese. Fr. Lucas became the mew PP.

15th June 2008 I was back to Nagra as a member praying for the Society and the Church.

On 23rd June 2008 I came to Baroda Jeevan Darshan to meet Dr. Dabhi.

On 30th June I had my Fistula operation ay Shubhechha Hospital.

Every month I went for check up to Dr. Manish Dabhi  at Sterling Hospital.

On 30th August I had cataract operation at Dharmaj Hospital.

On 8th Nov. 2008  I had second eye cataract operation. All this while I was at Nagra.

May 6th 2009 left Nagra for Jeevan Darshan.

May 7 & 8th had dialysis for three hours each.

May 11th 2009 angiography done at Sterling. It was decided to have dialysis for twice a week i.e. on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Appointed as Asst. PP at St. Joseph’s Baroda.

Left Jeevan Darshan on 11th July 2009 and came to St. Joseph’s.

I am now at St. Joseph’s Baroda helping in the parish, doing some writing, reading, praying, playing with computer, listening to music and watching good movies.

From 28th June 2011 I am asked by the doctor Dabhi to have dialysis three times a week, i.e. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

July Aug I had the the problem of my denture. Denture  was ready by 20th Sept. Meanwhile I lost weight. It came down to 58 Kg.

My friend from South Korea, Maria Tina  came to Baroda on 7th Sept. 2011 and stayed with us at St. Joseph’s till 12th Sept. 2011.

Knee replacement operation took place on 13th April 2012 at Sterling by Dr. Miir Dholakia.

Fr. Prov. Asked me to shift to JD from 28th April for beter treatment.

July 12th new denture  made by Dr. Kirit Patel.

I began taking Aurvedic medicines from Vaidya Kanubhai of Pavi Jetpur from 13th Nov. 2012 It has helped me a lot.

I on my own with the help om main doctor AbbaJan , God the Father decided to go for dialysis only twice a week from Nov. 27th 2012.

Praise the Lord!

During dialysis often I get cramps on both my legs. It is the most painful experience. I cry, pray and sometimes get angry with God, why does he give me so much pain and suffering. Sometimes they have to stop dialysis and make me walk. Once the cramps go dialysis continues.

 I find it very difficult to walk. My left knee was injured during a football match way back in 1970. My cartiledge was injured. When I went for Tertianship to Dindigul again I played football and spoilt my knee. I was operated there. The doctor Mallia had warned me that as you grow old you will have good time, i.e. pain in your knee. I was operated in 1975 at Dindigul, Sy. Martha’s hospital.

In 2010 it was very difficult to walk for a long time.

My knee replacement operation was done on 13th April 2012 by Dr. Mihir Dholakia. Operation was successful. Now I can walk without pain. It was done at Sterling Hospital Baroda where I go for my dialysis.

Fr. Prov. Asked me to stay at Jeevan Darshan. 28th April  2012 I shifted to JD. Here better care is being taken. I also belong to St. Joseph community. I can go there whenever I want.

My HB has gone down to 7. Dr. Dabhi treating me and hope to improve upon it.
