The shrine of Nagra, Khambhat.
Nagra Medo is organized every year on 2nd of January.
On the 2nd day of the year 2011, there was a big spiritual ocassion organised in the Shrine of Nagra, Khambhat parish. it was the Religious fair of Karunamayi Mata of Nagra, Khambhat. Khambhat is though close to Nadiad Anand and Baroda, is not that known among the Gujarati catholics, but it has a very good amount of faithfuls practicing Christianity quite fervently.
The whole melo (Religious Fair) began with a procession from the Khambhat church in Mariampura with the statue of Mother Mary placed on the horse cart. The faithfuls and the mahil mandal singing and dancing on holy tunes along the road from Khambaht to nagra which is about 3 kms. The one who stole attention of the town road was bishop Thomas Macwan, sitting on a baggi(Horse cart) really looked like a King of the catholics in Gujarat. The melo was a specially blessed one because it was a twin celebration of the holy sacraments, where 59 of our parish youth received the sacrament of conformation, along with the 15 holy communicants. The reception and conformation of Christ in to them was adored and devotionally participated by about 600 catholics from the parish as well as from outside.
The speciality of the whole arrengment was that it was fully organised and funded by the parishners in the city of Khambhat. Father Parish Priest Victor Davamni SJ(Known as Father Devmani) and other fathers brothers and sisters of the parish supported the whole spiritual ocassion with a lot of responsibility and joy. The Holy mas and the celebration of the sacrament were celebrated by our Rev. Bishop Thomas Macwan Ahmedabd Dio.
Testy food was served to all who came to be the part of the cermony by the parishners residing in the city of Kahmbaht. Thanks to one and all who made this day a memorable one with their dutiful services.
